Mr. Wheaton has worked with stellar athletes, Olympians, entertainers, elected officials, and municipalities. His designation as one of the top ten percent of all entertainment lawyers in the nation by Lawyers of Distinction has made for a tremendously exciting and prosperous career with several hallmark legal cases accomplished under his direction.
Mr. Wheaton spent nearly two years as one of the lead attorneys in the "Prince" Rogers Nelson Estate and has appeared on 60 Minutes, The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, FOX, and a multitude of network television shows as a producer, consultant, and attorney. He has executive produced at least eight of the Bob Beamon Celebrity Golf Classics in Southern Florida for Olympians, major-league athletes, celebrities, and entertainers, including Muhammad Ali, Dan Marino, Dorothy Hamil, Donna DeVerona, Carl Lewis, Dr. Edwin Moses, and dozens of others.
For more than thirty years, Mr. Wheaton has represented some of the most prominent names in sports and entertainment including Milton Berle; civil rights activist and former NAACP President, Mrs. Myrlie Evers-Williams; Olympians Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Bob Beamon, Al and Florence (FloJo) Griffith Joyner, and John Carlos; NBA Hall of Famers John Stockton, James Worthy, and Rick Barry; former CBS Broadcaster Jayne Kennedy-Overton, Ray Charles, Jr., Bernie Bickerstaff, yachtsman Dennis Conner; and stellar entertainers Carl Anderson, Marla Gibbs, Norman Connors, Norman Brown, Jean Carne, Kashif, Will Wheaton, and many more. Mr. Wheaton’s quiet roster includes well-established and highly visible elected officials throughout the country.
In 2005, Mr. Wheaton represented Essie Mae Washington Williams. Ms Washington-Williams was the African-American daughter of the late Senator James “Strom” Thurmond. Her New York Times bestseller memoir, Dear Senator, was nominated for a National Book Award and a Pulitzer Prize.
Mr. Wheaton continues to represent prominent public figures, including George Floyd's uncle, Selwyn Jones. He currently serves as an Advisory Board Member on the non-profit, A Soulful Heart Memorializing George Floyd, Jr.
